Recent research suggests CBG, a so-called “minor cannabinoid” may be the key to unlocking anti-inflammatory and neuro-protective superpowers in cannabis medicine. It’s become very popular in medical research.
Cannabigerol, or CBG for short, is one of the special chemical compounds known as cannabinoids, found in the hemp plant. These chemicals have the unique ability to interact with the human body’s natural cannabinoid receptors to reduce pain and inflammation while promoting neuroregeneration and homeostasis throughout the endocannabinoid system.
SunMed’s newest water-soluble product, CBG-rich Neuro, has a unique CBG-rich broad-spectrum profile that works on a whole set of receptors that CBD may not interact with. Enriched with 4% CBG, Neuro is a completely unique product now available for purchase in-store at all three of our locations–Waupaca, Oshkosh, Weston) and online.
CBG is being studied for its unique neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties in concert with the other major cannabinoids found in hemp. Like CBD, CBG is a non-euphoric/non-intoxicating cannabinoid, which means that it can’t get you high. However, CBG may help to balance the effects of THC and other cannabinoids by promoting synergy. Since CBG can act on the central nervous system without causing a high, the potential benefits and medical uses of CBG have attracted significant interest.
Studies are showing CBG aids in reducing neuroinflammation, neuronal cell loss, and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs when there’s an imbalance between free radical activity and antioxidant activity. When functioning properly, free radicals can help fight off pathogens. Pathogens lead to infections. Therefore CBG not only has increased anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective properties but provides anti-infection support to our body as well.
CBG can also affect the body by increasing anandamide levels. Anandamide is a naturally-occurring cannabinoid created by our body that helps regulate many biological functions, including appetite, sleep, and memory. CBG has been shown to block serotonin receptors as well, which suggests a role for CBG in treating depression.
Research into CBG is still ongoing, but may offer relief from the following conditions:
Epilepsy, Chronic pain, Depression, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS, Huntington’s Disease, Bladder dysfunction, Psoriasis, IBS/IBD, Glaucoma, Anorexia, Depression, Leukemia, Diabetes, and many other neuro-centric conditions.
